Trails, Tides, & Treasures
What’s a beach trip without hunting for hidden (and not-so-hidden) treasures? The Long Beach Peninsula is full of spectacular sites, coastal hikes, tidal discoveries, and unexpected jewels you might not have thought to explore.
Your next adventure awaits!
Cape Disappointment State Park — Featuring two historic lighthouses, this state park offers multiple hiking trails to satisfy your thirst for the outdoors. Walk through old-growth forests and along dramatic cliffs that overlook the ocean.
Beach Horseback Riding — Guided horseback riding at Long Beach Family Horsehides — a fun experience for all ages and skill levels. Choose from one-hour rides or longer excursions for more experienced riders. A wonderful way to enjoy the beach and catch a sunset.
Ilwaco Artworks — For the creatives and clay lovers of the world: Ilwaco Artworks is a community ceramics studio and gallery in Ilwaco, affiliated with The Sou’Wester Arts nonprofit. We offer workshops, memberships, and artist residencies for all skill levels in clay.
Discovery Trail — The 8.2-mile trail is both a paved and boardwalk coastal path running between Ilwaco and Long Beach — perfect for walking, running, and biking. You may find nuggets of treasure along the way!
Marsh’s Free Museum — From Jake the Alligator Man to a taxidermied two‑headed calf, this museum is full of oddities to explore. It’s a fun, family‑friendly attraction—don’t miss out on an oddly satisfying visit!
Charter Fishing — No matter what fish is in season, charter fishing is a thrilling ride you definitely want to experience. Especially when done with the right crew! — We highly recommend booking a trip on ‘The Outlaw’ and ‘The Gambler’ based in Ilwaco.
Razor Clam Digging — Razor clamming is a major event on the Long Beach Peninsula. Monitor harvesting announcements through the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife and be sure you have the required licenses before digging. For a clam-digging schedule, visit the Razor Clam Society at www.razorclamsociety.org/dig-dates-time/.
Willapa National Wildlife Refuge — A delightful getaway for peaceful leisure. Stroll along boardwalks, hike scenic trails, launch your boat, camp under the stars, and enjoy outdoor art displays. You might even make a furry (or feathered) friend or two while on your Journey.
Highlife Adventures Zip-lining — A little farther away — one of our absolute favorites! Based in Warrenton, Oregon, it’s an adventure for anyone seeking a thrill. Zip-line, swing, enjoy the surrounding nature, and maybe even spot the notorious Bigfoot!
We host many events here on the coast — one may be happening while you’re in town. To discover local coastal events, visit the Evergreen Coast event calendar at www.evergreencoastwa.com/event-calendar/.
